f you've got the music in you, Dance Dance Revolution has a way to get it out. This port of the very popular arcade machine matches rhythm and choreography to the defining aspect of video games: competition. The object of the game is to follow the onscreen clues for dance steps that you then mimic by either dancing your fingers along the PlayStation controller's buttons, or by hoofing it on a separately sold dance pad controller. That may sound easy (and it is, at first), but the complexity gradually increases to Fred Astaire heights. The game starts new players off with a tutorial mode, and transitions into either single-player or competitive and cooperative multiplayer modes--so you can choose to dance with or against a partner. Dance Dance Revolution also includes a special workout mode to get players to exercise while they play. The game's broad soundtrack nearly encompasses the whole spectrum of contemporary dance music: pop, disco, techno, house, Latin, drum 'n' bass, and hip-hop.
